Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra: The Most Slimline Foldable Phone Now Available
Samsung’s foldable phone lineup has received its most significant update in years. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra was unveiled at Galaxy Unpacked on July 22, 2026, in London. This marks Samsung’s first foldable launch on UK soil. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is now available for pre-order and will be hitting retail shelves on August 5, 2026. This is the first-ever ‘Ultra’ model in the Galaxy Z foldable series, and Samsung has made daring design choices to justify the name.
The Fold8 Ultra is the thinnest Galaxy Z Fold ever produced, measuring just 4.1mm thick when unfolded and weighing 215 grams. It features a sweeping 8-inch inner main display and is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. This is paired with 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. A 5,000mAh battery with fast charging ensures the device keeps running. The Fold8 Ultra operates on Android 17 with One UI 9 and comes with a promise of up to seven years of major software updates.
Alongside the Fold8 Ultra, Samsung also launched the redesigned Galaxy Z Fold8 and the Galaxy Z Flip8. The Fold8 is now wider and shorter, with a 5.5-inch cover screen and 7.6-inch main display. The Flip8, at just 6.1mm unfolded, offers an ultra-portable option. The Fold8 Ultra starts at $2,099 in the US, while the standard Fold8 begins at $1,900. Samsung will compete directly with Apple’s rumored first foldable, the iPhone Ultra, expected later this year.
