Apple Unveils iOS 26 Public Beta Featuring Groundbreaking ‘Liquid Glass’ Design
Apple has unveiled the public beta of iOS 26, marking the most significant design overhaul since iOS 7 with its innovative “Liquid Glass” interface.
The update introduces a translucent design language that mimics the optical qualities of real glass, including refraction and reflection. These elements react dynamically to motion, content, and user inputs. The Liquid Glass design permeates the entire operating system, rendering many interface elements almost entirely translucent, thereby placing greater emphasis on content.
Apple has also rolled out a redesigned Safari with rounded buttons, an updated Apple Music with floating tab bars, and introduced new features in CarPlay, Maps, and Wallet. In addition, the company has launched Apple Games, a brand-new app that serves as a one-stop destination for all gaming needs.
Despite initial user feedback regarding poor visibility in early beta versions, Apple has been making ongoing refinements to strike a balance between aesthetic appeal and usability. The public beta is now accessible through Apple’s Beta Software Program, with the final release anticipated in mid-September, coinciding with the iPhone 17 lineup.
iOS 26 will be compatible with iPhone 11 and subsequent models, discontinuing support for the iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max.
