Celebrity Cruises Unveils $250M Overhaul of Solstice Fleet

Celebrity Cruises has initiated one of the most ambitious refurbishment programs in the cruise industry for 2026. They have committed a staggering $250 million to completely modernize their five Solstice Series ships. These vessels were originally launched between 2008 and 2012. The first ship to experience this transformation, Celebrity Solstice, returned to service in March 2026 after an extensive bow-to-stern refit in Singapore.

The revamp introduced eight brand-new onboard experiences, including four concepts never before seen at sea. Key additions include:

  • The Boulevard Lounge — a 125-seat cabaret-inspired entertainment venue
  • The Parlor sports and gaming lounge
  • Sunset Park — a reimagined outdoor social deck with yoga, lawn games, and live music
  • New dining venues including Trattoria Rossa

All 1,479 existing staterooms received upgrades, and 54 new cabin categories were introduced, including the Panoramic Infinite Veranda Suites.

After launching in Asia and Australia, the refurbished Celebrity Solstice is now cruising Alaska routes for the summer of 2026. In September, it will embark on an extraordinary 110-night Grand Voyage from Canada to Southeast Asia, visiting over 55 ports without repeating a single destination. The remaining four Solstice-class ships are set to receive the same treatment in the coming years.

Laura Hodges Bethge, president of Celebrity Cruises, stated that the investment was designed to enhance the vacation experience while preserving the elements that made the ships so beloved by guests. Industry analysts suggest that this refurbishment model, as opposed to building new ships, could establish a new standard for how premium cruise lines extend the lifespan of their aging fleets.
