In a major development for long-haul travellers, Singapore Airlines (SIA) is significantly expanding its European network in 2026, unveiling new and increased services that will give passengers far more flexibility across Asia-Europe routes. The airline will increase flight frequencies between Singapore and Manchester, Milan, Munich, and London Gatwick from July 2026, with the Manchester service moving to a daily schedule from July 13.

Most notably, SIA is launching an entirely new Singapore–Barcelona–Madrid service from October 26, operating five times weekly. Tickets for the new route go on sale in June 2026, making Madrid SIA’s 15th European destination and marking the airline’s return to the Spanish capital for the first time since 2004. The expanded network is expected to significantly benefit both corporate and leisure travellers on Asia-Europe routes, offering more schedule options and award inventory across SIA’s network from mid-year onwards.

The expansion comes as European travel continues to hold strong appeal for global tourists. Meanwhile, Cathay Pacific has separately announced plans to launch three-times-weekly nonstop flights between Hong Kong and Almaty, Kazakhstan from Q1 2027, using Airbus A330-300 aircraft — a route that will be the only direct service between the two cities, opening new corridors into Central Asia.
