CubCrafters Unveils $1,500 FADEC Software Upgrade for Carbon Cub
Yakima, Washington-based aircraft manufacturer CubCrafters has introduced a performance-enhancing software upgrade for pilots flying aircraft equipped with the Rotax 916 iS engine. This software-only FADEC (Full Authority Digital Engine Control) modification requires no hardware changes, making it one of the most accessible performance upgrades in the recent history of general aviation.
Available immediately at a cost of just $1,500, the upgrade was developed in collaboration with world-renowned Red Bull Air Race pilot and STOL expert Luke Czepiela and engineering firm RS Flight Systems. CubCrafters states that the enhancement delivers significant improvements across multiple performance metrics, including:
- Acceleration
- Climb rate
- Cruise speed
- Deceleration
- Overall energy management
Brad Damm, Vice President of CubCrafters, highlighted that Czepiela’s extensive experience operating Carbon Cub aircraft in the world’s most challenging flying environments made him exceptionally qualified to contribute to the update. CubCrafters has confirmed that the upgrade has been tested on aircraft fitted with both Hartzell and MT propeller configurations. Eligible aircraft owners are urged to contact CubCrafters customer support for scheduling and installation details.
