SpaceX Soars High with a Record-Breaking $75B Nasdaq IPO

Elon Musk’s aerospace giant, SpaceX, made history on Friday, June 12, 2026. The company completed the largest initial public offering (IPO) ever recorded, raising a staggering $75 billion. This was achieved by selling 555,555,555 shares at $135 each on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol SPCX. The landmark IPO shattered the previous record held by Saudi Aramco, which raised $29.4 billion in 2019.

Shares opened at a robust $150 — 11% above the IPO price. They surged as high as $176.52 during trading, and ultimately closed at $161.11, a gain of nearly 20%. The debut pushed SpaceX’s market capitalization above the $2 trillion mark. This made it the sixth-largest publicly traded company in the United States and cemented Elon Musk’s status as the world’s first trillionaire.

SpaceX president and COO Gwynne Shotwell rang the opening bell at Nasdaq’s New York headquarters, while Musk joined remotely from Texas. The company’s prospectus revealed that first-quarter 2026 revenue rose 15% year-over-year to $4.69 billion. This was powered largely by the Starlink satellite internet division — the company’s only profitable unit. SpaceX also confirmed capital expenditures of $10.1 billion in Q1, with $7.7 billion earmarked for AI.

The IPO is the first in a trio of anticipated mega-IPOs from AI companies expected in 2026. The other two companies in the spotlight are OpenAI and Anthropic, both also eyeing public market debuts.
