EVA Air Pioneers First Nonstop Taipei–Washington D.C. Flight on June 26, 2026

EVA Air, Taiwan’s premier independent airline, is poised to etch its name in the annals of aviation history. On June 26, 2026, it will launch the inaugural nonstop flight between Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). This four-times-weekly service, courtesy of a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, will mark EVA Air as the first Taiwanese carrier to establish a direct connection between Taiwan and the U.S. capital region.

The newly configured aircraft boasts 26 lie-flat business-class seats, 28 premium economy seats, and 224 economy seats. This offers passengers a comprehensive range of cabin options for the approximately 15.5-hour westbound journey. The addition of this route will make it EVA Air’s 10th North American gateway. Consequently, the airline’s total weekly North American flights will increase to 98, solidifying its status as the carrier with the largest flight network from Taiwan to North America.

According to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, the new service is projected to generate over $61 million in annual economic impact for the U.S. National Capital region. This direct link will benefit more than 40,000 passengers annually who previously had to connect through West Coast hubs such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle. The connectivity will be further boosted through EVA Air’s Star Alliance partnership with United Airlines at Dulles, which provides onward access to over 400 domestic destinations.

EVA Air President Clay Sun stated, “North America has long been a key strategic market for EVA Air.” The airline identifies robust demand across political, financial, technological, and government travel sectors, coupled with a substantial Asian diaspora in the greater Washington metro area, as the primary catalysts for this historic new route.
