Record-Breaking Tourism Growth in Saint Lucia with 40,752 April Arrivals
Saint Lucia has marked a significant milestone in its tourism sector, registering a record-breaking 40,752 stay-over arrivals in April. This figure represents an 8.5% increase compared to April 2025 and a year-to-date growth of 3.7%, as reported by the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority.
The island nation witnessed remarkable gains across its key source markets. Notably:
- The Caribbean market experienced an explosive growth of 39.6%, adding 1,954 visitors.
- Canada demonstrated a robust expansion with a 45.9% increase, resulting in 1,205 additional visitors.
- The United States market continued its upward trend, adding 900 more visitors.
Enhanced airlift has played a pivotal role in supporting this growth. WestJet has increased its service to twice weekly, and Air Canada is set to upgrade its service in June 2026.
Beyond stay-over arrivals, Saint Lucia also saw substantial growth in its cruise and yachting sectors. Yacht arrivals surged by 44% and cruise arrivals grew by 34%. Tourism Minister Dr. Ernest Hilaire noted that “Saint Lucia’s growth is becoming more balanced and experience-driven, with stronger regional travel, increased Canadian demand, and higher visitor participation within the cruise sector.”
The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority remains optimistic about continued growth throughout 2026. Strategic marketing campaigns, such as “What Kind of Summer Are You?”, are already underway. Additionally, major events like the Caribbean Premier League and Creole Heritage Month are expected to further boost tourism.
