World’s First All-Business Class ATR 72-600 Delivered to Berjaya Air

On May 19, 2026, Malaysian airline Berjaya Air made aviation history by taking delivery of the world’s first ATR 72-600. This aircraft is equipped with the innovative ATR HighLine all-business class cabin configuration. The arrival of the aircraft in Kuala Lumpur marks a significant milestone for regional aviation.

The revolutionary cabin features a mere 26 seats arranged in a spacious 1-by-1 layout. This design ensures that every passenger enjoys direct aisle access and unobstructed window views. The handcrafted ETEREA seats by Italian firm Geven are the widest ever installed on an ATR platform. In a bold design move, traditional overhead bins have been replaced with sleek valence panels, creating an executive-style ceiling that floods the cabin with natural light.

The ATR HighLine configuration has recently received certification from both the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Malaysian authorities. Berjaya Air is set to launch operations within days on a new route between Subang and Koh Samui. The airline will then expand across Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

  • The aircraft will primarily serve Berjaya Group’s portfolio of hotels and resorts.
  • It offers an ‘affordable luxury’ experience to island destinations like Redang and Langkawi.
  • The aircraft will also be available for charter operations across the Asia-Pacific region.
