Subway Unveils First-Ever Value Menu: 15 Delectable Items Under $5

On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, Subway made a splash in the fast-food industry by launching its first-ever value menu. This exciting new offering features 15 entrees, all priced under $5, and is available at participating locations nationwide. This move marks Subway’s entry into the increasingly competitive fast-food value wars.

The Fresh Value Menu is divided into three enticing tiers:

  • Deli Faves: Starting at $3.99, this tier includes classics like a BLT, Cold Cut Combo, and two new sandwiches – the Spicy Pepperoni and Ham & Salami.
  • Protein Pockets: Priced at $3.99, these grab-and-go tortilla wraps pack over 20 grams of protein.
  • Sub of the Day: For $4.99, enjoy a different six-inch sub each day of the week.

Subway’s North American CMO, Dave Skena, emphasized the value of the new menu, stating, “Subway’s Fresh Value Menu proves you don’t have to choose between eating well and saving money.” This move comes at a time when rising food costs are pushing consumers to seek better value. Competitors like McDonald’s and Panera Bread have also launched value-focused offerings this year.

The launch holds particular significance given Subway’s complex history with the $5 price point. The chain gained fame for its $5 Footlong promotion during the Great Recession, but had to abandon it due to unsustainable margins for franchisees. The new menu is now available at over 18,000 U.S. locations. However, prices may be higher in California, Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii.
