Beauty Justice Conference: A Step Towards Wellness and Equity by Black Women for Wellness

On April 20, 2026, Black Women for Wellness (BWW) is hosting its second annual Beauty Justice Conference in Los Angeles. The event brings together industry leaders, health professionals, and community members to address critical health and safety concerns in beauty products marketed to Black women.

The conference, themed “Beyond the Beauty Aisle: From Consumer Choices to Community Change,” takes place at The California Endowment from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event aims to empower Black women and girls while sparking action toward a future where clean beauty is accessible and policy measures support long-term wellness and equity.

“For far too long, Black women have been placed at the intersection of beauty culture and chemical exposure,”

said Janette Robinson-Flint, executive director and co-founder of Black Women for Wellness. Studies show that beauty products marketed to Black women often contain higher concentrations of toxic chemicals, including endocrine-disrupting compounds, compared to products marketed to white women. This harmful mix has been linked to breast cancer, fibroids, infertility, and other reproductive health concerns.

The conference features:

  • Educational workshops on regulatory pathways and health impacts
  • Entrepreneur and stylist tracks for building safer businesses
  • Youth programming focused on wellness and informed product choices
  • Networking opportunities with industry experts

The initiative represents a growing movement demanding safer products and challenging beauty standards that historically have told Black women their natural selves are not enough.
