ByteDance Launches Seedance 2.0 Globally: AI Video Generator Now Supports 90-Second Videos
Chinese tech giant ByteDance has silently launched its Seedance 2.0 AI video generator across over 100 countries, beginning in early April 2026. This innovative tool offers users the ability to create Hollywood-quality video content using simple text prompts.
Seedance 2.0, initially introduced in China in February 2026, signifies a significant advancement in AI video generation technology. The system is capable of creating 60-90 second videos in 1080p resolution, complete with native audio synchronization, multi-shot continuity, and realistic physics—all without the need for post-production.
The platform utilizes a unified multimodal audio-video joint generation architecture that can process text, images, audio, and video inputs simultaneously. Users have the option to combine:
- Up to 9 images
- 3 video clips
- 3 audio files
These reference materials enable the AI to learn motion logic, special effects, and sound atmosphere directly from the source materials.
ByteDance has made Seedance 2.0 available through its CapCut video editing platform in Africa, South America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. However, the United States has been notably excluded due to ongoing geopolitical tensions. The model can also be accessed through third-party API platforms, including fal.ai, which went live on April 9, 2026.
Despite the excitement surrounding the rollout, there are concerns about copyright infringement. The model’s ability to generate clips featuring famous actors with remarkable precision has led to Disney and other Hollywood studios issuing cease-and-desist letters to ByteDance. In response, the company has vowed to implement stronger intellectual property safeguards.
This development coincides with OpenAI’s decision to shut down its consumer-facing Sora video service, indicating a shift in the AI industry towards more practical, business-oriented tools.
