April 2026 Sees a Sharp Rise in Aviation Fuel Prices

General aviation operators across the United States are grappling with a significant rise in fuel costs. Jet-A prices witnessed a sharp increase in April 2026, as per a comprehensive survey conducted among more than 200 fixed-base operators (FBOs).

The Aviation Research Group U.S. reveals that the average price of Jet-A fuel was $8.63 per gallon in April 2026. This represents a substantial increase of $1.77 compared to March and a stark jump of $2.03 per gallon compared to the same period last year. These prices include all taxes and fees at full retail.

This dramatic price surge comes at a challenging time for the general aviation sector. It has the potential to impact flight training operations, charter services, and private aircraft owners. The escalating fuel costs could affect operational budgets and flight planning decisions for pilots and aviation businesses nationwide.

Industry analysts suggest that the price spike may be attributed to global oil market fluctuations and ongoing geopolitical tensions affecting fuel supply chains. Aviation stakeholders are closely monitoring whether these elevated prices will stabilize or continue their upward trajectory in the coming months.
