Flight School Association Embarks on International Journey with Global Rebranding
The Flight School Association of North America has taken a significant leap in its evolution, officially rebranding as the Flight School Association International (FSAI). This change mirrors its growing global influence in the realm of aviation training.
The decision to rebrand was unanimously approved by members during the association’s annual meeting, which took place on February 27, 2026, in San Diego. Since its inception in 2009, the organization has grown to represent over 850 member organizations across the globe. These range from small-scale operations with a handful of aircraft to large training centers offering comprehensive programs.
According to FSAI officials, the name change was necessitated by the rising demand for advocacy, guidance, and industry insight from international flight training providers. This also includes the global supply chain that supports the industry. The association serves aspiring aviators at every stage of pilot development, from private pilot certificates to structured career pilot pathways.
“We didn’t go looking for the international market,” said FSAI President Bob Rockmaker. “The international market found us.”
The organization’s convention in San Diego attracted representatives from hundreds of flight schools and businesses that supply the schools. This event solidified its position as, what Rockmaker described as, “the single largest one-stop shop for seeing the supply chain for ab initio flight training schools.”
FSAI was the pioneer trade association established specifically to serve flight training organizations focusing on foundational pilot education. As the aviation and aerospace industries continue to evolve, the association remains committed to collaborating with partners to advance shared priorities, with safety remaining at the forefront of every initiative.
