Pyramids Airlines: Egypt’s Newest Private Carrier Takes Flight with First Aircraft

Egypt’s latest private carrier, Pyramids Airlines, celebrated a significant milestone on February 28, 2026. The delivery of its first aircraft, an Airbus A321-211 (registration SU-PAE), marked the official commencement of this new venture in Egyptian aviation. The aircraft journeyed from Antalya, Turkey to Cairo on March 1, 2026, under the symbolic flight number PYR2026.

Founded in 2025, Pyramids Airlines is strategically positioned to bolster Egypt’s long-term tourism strategy. The airline aims to enhance connectivity between Egypt’s prime leisure destinations and key markets in Asia and Eastern Europe. These destinations include:

  • Sharm El Sheikh
  • Luxor
  • Aswan
  • Hurghada
  • Cairo

The airline’s business model is designed to attract inbound tourism flows, especially from markets demonstrating strong post-pandemic recovery and demand for packaged travel.

Currently, Pyramids Airlines is in the process of obtaining regulatory licensing from the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority. It is also forming partnerships for leisure and ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) operations. CEO Sherif Sharaf has revealed the company’s ambitious plans to quickly expand its aircraft fleet and draw more tourists to Egypt.

Distinct from the defunct carrier of the same name that operated from 1977 to 2007, the new Pyramids Airlines made its first official industry appearance at FITUR 2026 in Madrid. Here, representatives concentrated on strategic partnerships and charter flying operations. The airline has already secured ground support through an agreement with EgyptAir Ground Services, gearing up for commercial operations anticipated to launch in 2026.
