Apple Launches Enhanced MacBook Air M5: Double Storage and Wi-Fi 7

On March 3, 2026, Apple unveiled the latest addition to their laptop line – the MacBook Air featuring the powerful M5 chip. This significant upgrade to the world’s most popular laptop is now available for pre-orders from March 4, with availability starting March 11.

The M5 chip is a game-changer, offering exceptional performance improvements with a 10-core CPU and a next-generation GPU. Each core features Neural Accelerators, enabling up to 4x faster AI task processing compared to the M4 model. This means the new MacBook Air delivers up to 6.9x faster AI video enhancement in Topaz Video and up to 6.5x faster 3D rendering with ray-tracing in Blender when compared to the M1 model.

Notable hardware upgrades include:

  • Double the base storage to 512GB
  • 2x faster SSD read/write performance, now configurable up to 4TB
  • Apple’s new N1 wireless chip delivering Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 connectivity

Combined with macOS Tahoe and Apple Intelligence, the MacBook Air offers up to 18 hours of battery life.

The 13-inch model starts at $1,099 (up from $999), while the 15-inch version is priced at $1,299. Both models are available in sky blue, midnight, starlight, and silver finishes.
