Revolutionary Biotech Beauty Brand, Mother Science, Makes Debut at Sephora

Mother Science, the innovative biotech skincare brand co-founded by Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger and violinist Ann Marie Simpson Einziger, has made its official debut at Sephora. This marks its first major retail partnership and introduces its patented ingredient, Malassezin, to the beauty world’s most prestigious shelves.

Starting from March 4, Mother Science’s three-product lineup will be available on Sephora.com. From March 13, the products will hit the shelves in stores nationwide. The brand’s unique selling point is Malassezin, a molecule claimed to be 10 times more powerful than vitamin C as an antioxidant. This ingredient was discovered when Simpson Einziger developed a harmless skin condition while on tour in 2016, sparking years of scientific research.

Edna Coryell, CEO of Mother Science, expressed her excitement about the partnership with Sephora. “This milestone represents an exciting new chapter for our brand and a meaningful step in our mission to deliver our patented breakthrough ingredient, malassezin, to the world,” she said.

Brooke Banwart, SVP of Skincare Merchandising at Sephora, noted the value of innovative brands like Mother Science. “Our clients value brands with intentional formulation, and Mother Science delivers on that through a science-first approach and focus on highly efficacious ingredients,” she said. This launch is part of Sephora’s accelerated push into biotech beauty, with the retailer adding multiple biotech brands in March 2026 alone.
