Ford Initiates Massive Recall of 422,000 Vehicles Due to Windshield Wiper Defect
Ford Motor Company has recently announced a significant safety recall. This recall affects a staggering 422,613 trucks and SUVs. The reason? Defective windshield wiper arms that may break and detach from the vehicles, thereby posing a serious safety hazard.
The recall, which was officially reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on April 7, covers the 2021-2023 Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators. Additionally, it also includes the 2022-2023 Ford F-Series Super Duty trucks. As per the NHTSA, the failure of the wiper arm could drastically reduce the visibility for drivers. This, in turn, increases the risk of crashes, especially in adverse weather conditions.
Ford has assured that they will inspect and replace the defective wiper arms at no cost to the vehicle owners. Letters notifying the affected owners about this safety risk are expected to be mailed starting April 13. Follow-up correspondence will be sent once a remedy is finalized. Vehicle owners can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 26S24. Alternatively, they can also check if their vehicle is affected by searching their VIN on NHTSA.gov. It’s worth noting that this marks the second windshield wiper-related recall for the Dearborn automaker in just over a month.
