Apple Unveils iOS 26.4: AI Playlists and Fresh Emojis Take Center Stage

Apple is set to launch iOS 26.4 to iPhone users globally on March 23, 2026. This update introduces a host of new features, headlined by an AI-powered music tool and eight innovative emoji characters.

Playlist Playground: A New Way to Discover Music

The standout feature of this update is Playlist Playground, an Apple Intelligence tool that crafts custom playlists based on text prompts. Whether it’s moods, activities, or even whimsical phrases, the AI will generate a corresponding playlist. Please note, this feature is currently in ‘beta’ and available in US English only.

Emojis and Apple Music Enhancements

With this update, users will enjoy eight new emojis, including a trombone, treasure chest, distorted face, hairy creature, fight cloud, orca, landslide, and ballet dancer. Apple Music also receives a boost with nearby concert suggestions, full-page album artwork, and an Ambient Music widget for quick access to curated playlists.

Improved User Experience

Addressing a long-standing keyboard bug, this update enhances typing accuracy for those who type quickly. Other additions include offline song recognition in Control Center, improved subtitle customization options, and enhancements to the Reduce Bright Effects setting for users who find Liquid Glass animations distracting.

Family Sharing and Security Upgrades

Family Sharing gets a significant upgrade, allowing adult members to use their own payment methods for purchases, instead of relying on the family organizer. For enhanced security, Stolen Device Protection is now enabled by default.

Apple’s Busy March

The release follows a bustling March for Apple, marked by the launch of nine new products, including the iPhone 17e, M5-powered MacBook Air and Pro models, the new MacBook Neo, and AirPods Max 2.
