Meta Seals a Monumental $27B AI Infrastructure Agreement with Nebius
Meta Platforms has signed a colossal five-year contract, valued at up to $27 billion, with Dutch AI infrastructure provider Nebius Group. This deal stands as one of the largest cloud computing agreements in tech history, underscoring the social media titan’s assertive foray into artificial intelligence.
The contract, announced on March 16, 2026, stipulates that Nebius will supply Meta with $12 billion in dedicated AI computing capacity across numerous global locations, commencing in early 2027. This arrangement includes one of the first large-scale deployments of Nvidia’s latest Vera Rubin AI chips. Furthermore, Meta has pledged to buy up to an additional $15 billion in available compute capacity from Nebius over the five-year term.
This deal signifies a substantial amplification of Meta’s existing alliance with Nebius, building on a $3 billion contract signed in November 2025. Nebius shares rocketed 14% in early trading following the announcement, prolonging the Amsterdam-based company’s extraordinary surge—its stock has nearly quadrupled over the past 12 months.
Meta, along with other tech behemoths such as Amazon, Alphabet, and Microsoft, are collectively projected to spend approximately $650 billion on AI infrastructure in 2026 alone. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has prioritized AI as the company’s main focus, as it vies with competitors like OpenAI and Google in the race to develop advanced AI models and services. A Meta spokesperson confirmed that the deal is part of the company’s strategy to construct “a more resilient and flexible infrastructure” by diversifying partnerships and technology.
