NVIDIA Pledges $2B Investment in Coherent for Future AI Data Centers
NVIDIA and Coherent Corp. have announced a strategic partnership that spans multiple years, with the aim of advancing optical technologies for the next generation of AI infrastructure. This agreement includes a multibillion-dollar purchase commitment from NVIDIA and a $2 billion investment in Coherent. The funds will be used to support research, development, and the expansion of U.S.-based manufacturing.
The focus of this partnership is the development of advanced laser and optical networking products, which are essential for AI data centers. Optical interconnects and advanced package integration are seen as the foundation for the next phase of AI infrastructure. These technologies will enable ultrahigh-bandwidth and energy-efficient connectivity across AI facilities.
As part of the deal, NVIDIA will gain future access and capacity rights for advanced optical networking products.
