Florida Tops AAA’s 2026 Spring Break Travel Destinations
AAA has unveiled its eagerly awaited spring break travel data for 2026, showing that Florida remains the premier choice for domestic travelers. Caribbean cruises and European cities continue to be favored international options. The data, released on March 10, 2026, is based on AAA Travel booking information and offers insights into the travel plans of millions of Americans in the upcoming weeks.
Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Tampa feature among the top 10 most popular domestic Spring Break destinations. The Sunshine State leads the season as travelers seek reliably warm climates to unwind at beaches or have fun at theme parks. Flights to Spring Break domestic hot spots are 2% more expensive than last year, with roundtrip tickets averaging about $815.
Ocean cruising is setting records this year, with AAA projecting that 21.7 million Americans will embark on cruise vacations in 2026. This is an increase from 20.7 million in 2025 and 14.2 million in 2019. Many families choose cruises over Spring Break to make the most of their week. Caribbean itineraries departing from Florida, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas are the most sought-after.
For international destinations, top European cities include Rome, Paris, Amsterdam, London, and Barcelona. Spring Break in Europe appeals to families seeking history and entertainment. AAA Travel data reveals that Rome is the top European city for booking tour packages and immersing in culture. According to AAA’s rental car partner Hertz, the most popular rental destinations are Orlando, Los Angeles, and Phoenix. The states with the highest bookings are Florida, California, Texas, Hawaii, and Arizona.
