Nvidia’s $2 Billion Strategic Investment in AI Cloud Firm, Nebius
Nvidia announced a strategic $2 billion investment in Amsterdam-based Nebius Group on March 11, 2026. This investment, which gives Nvidia an 8.3% stake in the AI cloud infrastructure company, signifies Nvidia’s continued expansion into the rapidly growing “neocloud” sector. The partnership aims to deploy massive AI data center capacity.
As part of the agreement, Nebius will deploy over 5 gigawatts of Nvidia-powered data center capacity by the end of 2030. This capacity is equivalent to the energy required to power approximately 3.8 million homes. The deal grants Nebius early access to Nvidia’s most advanced technologies. These include the next-generation Rubin platform, Vera CPUs, and BlueField storage systems. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated that Nebius is building an AI cloud designed for the agentic era, fully integrated from silicon to software.
Following the announcement, Nebius shares surged 16%, bringing the company’s market capitalization to approximately $28 billion. The company has already secured multibillion-dollar deals with giants like Microsoft and Meta Platforms. It also recently received approval to build a 1.2 gigawatt AI factory in Independence, Missouri. This investment follows similar $2 billion commitments by Nvidia to other AI infrastructure companies, including CoreWeave in January 2026. This is part of the chipmaker’s strategy to finance the growing neocloud ecosystem that focuses specifically on AI workloads rather than general-purpose cloud computing.
