High Schools Set to Construct Aircraft Kits: A Leap in Aviation Education
Tango Flight, a nonprofit committed to inspiring students through immersive aviation education, unveiled an innovative partnership with Sling Aircraft North America on March 5, 2026. This alliance will supply Sling 2 kit aircraft to high schools nationwide, offering students an unparalleled opportunity to gain practical aerospace manufacturing experience.
Under this partnership, the participating schools will construct the Sling 2 aircraft, integrating it into a structured, project-based STEM curriculum. The Sling 2, an all-metal, low-wing aircraft, is acclaimed for its performance, durability, and build quality. Students will acquire hands-on experience in engineering, manufacturing, teamwork, and leadership, working closely with educators, industry mentors, and community partners.
“Tango Flight was founded to change lives through aviation education,” stated Dan Weyant of Tango Flight. “Collaborating with Sling Aircraft North America enables us to offer a proven, contemporary aircraft platform to schools across the country, empowering students to create something extraordinary.”
Matt Liknaitzky, Co-CEO of Sling Aircraft North America, highlighted that the partnership fosters “transformative learning experiences that pave the way to college, careers, and lifelong opportunities.” Students who complete a Sling 2 aircraft at a Tango Flight partner high school also qualify for a complimentary discovery flight at any Sling Pilot Academy location. The program is set to be introduced to select schools in the 2026 academic year, with a phased national expansion plan.
