Sierra Space Secures $550M Funding, Skyrockets to $8 Billion Valuation
Defense technology and space company Sierra Space has successfully secured a staggering $550 million in Series C funding. This massive investment has catapulted the Louisville, Colorado-based company’s valuation to an impressive $8 billion.
The investment round was spearheaded by LuminArx Capital Management. Existing investors, including General Atlantic, Coatue, and Moore Strategic Ventures, also participated. This has brought Sierra Space’s total funding since 2021 to over $2 billion, indicating a robust investor confidence in the defense-tech space sector.
The company has earmarked the fresh capital for expanding production capacity and accelerating the development of national security space solutions. Sierra Space is currently executing major defense contracts, including a $740 million contract for 18 missile warning and tracking satellites for the Space Development Agency.
Furthermore, the company is making significant strides with its Dream Chaser spaceplane. This reusable spacecraft, designed to transport cargo and crew to low Earth orbit, is slated for a demonstration flight in late 2026. CEO Dan Jablonsky underscored that the funding will fortify national security capabilities while supporting both government and commercial space missions.
