Boots Introduces Innovative Weight Loss Treatment Service in Stores Across the UK
Boots, the UK pharmacy giant, has unveiled a pioneering pilot program that provides in-store weight loss treatment services. This groundbreaking initiative is available in 17 locations across the UK, including London, Manchester, and Edinburgh. This marks the first time such services have been made available on the high street.
The innovative service offers convenient access to prescription weight loss treatments such as Mounjaro and Wegovy. Customers can avail these services through in-person consultations with Pharmacist Independent Prescribers in private consultation rooms. Appointments can be booked online or customers can walk into participating stores. Here, their weight, height, and BMI will be assessed to determine eligibility.
Jamie Kerruish, Chief Healthcare Officer at Boots, stated: “We know that people have different preferences for how they access healthcare services. The launch of our in-store weight loss treatment service alongside our digital offer means we can now deliver convenient care to people both online or in person.“
This service is an extension of Boots’ existing digital Weight Loss Treatment Service through Boots Online Doctor. It includes comprehensive wrap-around support such as:
- A 10-week free weight loss program promoting sustainable lifestyle changes
- Access to a progress-tracking app
- A free 12-month aftercare program for customers who complete treatment, aligning with recent NICE guidance recommending year-long monitoring
