OpenAI Lands a Historic $110 Billion Funding at a Whopping $730B Valuation
In a landmark event in the tech industry, OpenAI has successfully secured a $110 billion funding round from tech giants Amazon, Nvidia, and SoftBank. This has catapulted the valuation of the ChatGPT creator to a staggering $730 billion pre-money, or $840 billion post-money.
Amazon is at the forefront of this investment, contributing a hefty $50 billion. Nvidia and SoftBank have each pitched in with $30 billion. This funding round, announced on February 27, 2026, represents more than double the amount of OpenAI’s previous record-breaking $40 billion raise in March 2025.
This colossal influx of capital will power OpenAI’s ambitious expansion plans. These include a $100 billion expansion of its existing agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) over the coming eight years. AWS will act as the exclusive third-party cloud distribution provider for OpenAI’s enterprise platform, Frontier.
OpenAI has expressed excitement about the future, stating, “We are entering a new phase where frontier AI moves from research into daily use at global scale.” The company currently serves over 900 million weekly active ChatGPT users. It is also aiming for $600 billion in total compute spending by 2030 as it faces stiff competition from Google Gemini and Anthropic.
