Unveiling Pokemon Winds & Waves: A New Adventure on Nintendo Switch 2
The Pokemon Company has officially announced the launch of Pokemon Winds and Pokemon Waves on February 27, 2026. This exciting revelation marks the franchise’s 30th anniversary, introducing the highly anticipated 10th generation games. These titles are set to launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.
Set in a tropical open-world region inspired by Southeast Asia, the games feature windswept islands and vast oceans. The new starter Pokemon include:
- Browt – The Grass-type Bean Chick Pokemon
- Pombon – The Fire-type Puppy Pokemon
- Gecqua – The Water-type Water Gecko Pokemon
The trailer showcases significantly improved graphics compared to previous entries, with lush environments, dynamic lighting, and diverse biomes including tropical forests, volcanic regions, and ocean areas.
Developed by Game Freak, these games will also mark the first time Brazilian Portuguese is officially supported as a playable language. The announcement suggests that Game Freak is taking additional development time to deliver a more polished experience, following criticism of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s technical performance.
