Mandarin Oriental Unveils Luxurious Beachfront Resort on Malaysia’s Desaru Coast

The Mandarin Oriental has proudly announced the opening of its eagerly awaited beachfront resort on Malaysia’s Desaru Coast. This marks a significant milestone in the luxury hotel group’s expansion in Southeast Asia. The property, inaugurated on February 5, 2026, signifies the rebranding of the former One&Only Desaru Coast resort.

Enveloped by 128 acres of ancient rainforest and 1.5 kilometers of untouched beachfront overlooking the South China Sea, the Mandarin Oriental, Desaru Coast boasts 44 spacious suites and a four-bedroom pool villa. Each accommodation option offers private plunge pools and captivating views of either the sea or rainforest. The resort stands as the final masterpiece of the late esteemed architect Kerry Hill.

The resort presents itself as a nature-centric luxury getaway in Johor, conveniently reachable from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. It offers wellness experiences that include signature rituals inspired by Malaysian traditions and science-led facials. The culinary journey, led by Executive Chef Ahmad Fazli, showcases local Malaysian ingredients across various dining venues such as Ambara and Ember Beach Club. The resort also intends to unveil the region’s first collection of Mandarin Oriental branded residences.
