FAA Initiates 48th Annual General Aviation Activity Survey for 2025
The Federal Aviation Administration has initiated its 48th annual General Aviation and Part 135 Activity Survey. This comprehensive survey requests aircraft owners across the United States to report on their operations during the calendar year 2025. It serves as the only comprehensive source of General Aviation (GA) flight information nationwide.
Survey invitations were dispatched, both via mail and email, starting from February 16, 2026. Single aircraft owners were the first to receive these invitations, followed by multiple-aircraft operators later in the month. The GA Survey stands as the sole source of information on the general aviation fleet, hours flown, and the usage of general aviation aircraft. Tetra Tech, the independent research firm that has been conducting the survey for 26 years, reports that over 80,000 aircraft owners—about 30% of the population—are being contacted.
Data collected from the survey is utilized by governmental agencies and the industry to compute safety metrics including fatal accident rates. It helps in understanding the GA industry’s economic impact on jobs and infrastructure investments, tracking the success of safety initiatives, and determining funding for aviation infrastructure needs. The survey can be completed online in approximately 10-15 minutes. Paper versions are also available for those who prefer. Industry organizations, including NBAA, strongly encourage participation to ensure that accurate data underpins FAA funding decisions and safety statistics.
