Airbus H175 Helicopter: Certified for Operations in Canada

Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) has awarded type certification to the Airbus H175 super-medium helicopter, paving the way for this versatile rotorcraft to penetrate the Canadian market. The certification, announced on February 18, 2026, readies the advanced helicopter for operations across Canada’s diverse and challenging environments.

The multirole H175 is adept at supporting a broad spectrum of missions. These include:

  • Offshore energy operations
  • Search and rescue (SAR)
  • Emergency medical services (EMS)
  • Private and business aviation
  • Public services
  • Defense

With over 300,000 flight hours logged worldwide since its service inception in December 2014, the helicopter has already demonstrated its reliability across multiple sectors.

“This is a pivotal moment for the Canadian helicopter industry,” said Bart Reijnen, President of Airbus Helicopters Inc. and Head of the North America region. “This certification underscores our commitment to providing Canadian customers with advanced rotary-wing solutions that deliver enhanced performance, safety, and efficiency.”

The H175 boasts Airbus Helicopters’ state-of-the-art Helionix avionics suite, which offers enhanced situational awareness, reduced pilot workload, and improved passenger safety. The aircraft provides a smooth and comfortable ride for up to 18 passengers while delivering a superior combination of range, speed, and useful load in its class. The helicopter has already received certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

The robust design and advanced systems make the H175 well-suited to Canada’s demanding operating environments, from offshore installations to remote northern regions, opening new opportunities for operators across the country.
