Nissan Gravite: A Competitive New Entrant in the Indian Market
Nissan India has officially launched its new seven-seater MPV, the Gravite, marking the company’s aggressive push to expand its presence in the Indian automotive market. The launch took place on February 17-18, 2026, with an introductory starting price of ₹5.65 lakh (ex-showroom) for the first 1,001 bookings.
Built on the CMF-A+ platform shared with the Renault Triber, the Gravite offers a compelling package for budget-conscious Indian families seeking flexible seating arrangements. The vehicle is powered by a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 71 bhp and 96 Nm of torque, paired with either a five-speed manual or AMT gearbox options.
Modern Features and Flexible Seating
The Gravite boasts modern features including:
- An 8-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- A 7-inch digital instrument cluster
- Wireless charging
- A comprehensive safety suite with six airbags, ABS, EBD, ESC, and TPMS
The vehicle’s modular 2+3+2 seating configuration allows the third row to be completely removed, expanding cargo space from 84 liters to 625 liters in five-seater mode.
Fuel Efficiency and Future Plans
According to Nissan, the Gravite delivers fuel efficiency of 19.6 km/L with the AMT variant and 19.3 km/L with the manual transmission. The launch is part of Nissan’s broader product offensive in India, with plans to introduce the Tekton SUV mid-2026 and a seven-seater C-SUV in early 2027.
