Google Announces I/O 2026 Developer Conference Dates: May 19-20
Google has officially announced that its annual developer conference, Google I/O 2026, will take place on May 19-20 at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California. CEO Sundar Pichai revealed the dates on Tuesday following the company’s traditional interactive puzzle challenge on the I/O website.
The two-day event will feature keynote addresses, fireside chats, product demonstrations, and will be livestreamed globally for free. Google confirmed attendees can expect “the latest AI breakthroughs and updates in products across the company, from Gemini to Android and more.”
Industry observers anticipate major announcements around Gemini AI improvements, the official debut of Android 17, and potentially the first look at Google’s upcoming smart glasses, which the company announced in December 2025 would launch in 2026. The event comes as competition in AI-powered wearables intensifies, with Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses selling over 7 million units in 2025. Google previously announced a smart glasses partnership with Warby Parker at I/O 2025. Online registration for the livestream is now open on the official Google I/O website.
