Archer Aviation and NVIDIA Join Forces for AI-Driven eVTOL Aircraft

Electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) manufacturer Archer Aviation has announced a groundbreaking partnership with tech giant NVIDIA. This collaboration aims to integrate advanced artificial intelligence computing into Archer’s next-generation urban air mobility aircraft, marking a significant milestone in autonomous aviation technology.

Announced at CES 2026 in January, Archer will deploy NVIDIA’s IGX Thor platform—a powerful safety-critical AI computing module—into future iterations of its Midnight eVTOL aircraft. The collaboration focuses on three core areas:

  • Enhancing pilot safety through predictive awareness systems
  • Enabling seamless airspace integration with dynamic flight planning
  • Developing autonomy-ready flight controls for future semi-autonomous operations

The NVIDIA IGX Thor platform will serve as the central nervous system of Archer’s aircraft, processing vast amounts of flight data in real-time for enhanced pilot awareness and predictive maintenance. CEO Adam Goldstein stated that the partnership positions Archer “to lead in the development of scalable, safe, and sustainable air mobility solutions.”

Archer plans to showcase the integration at its recently acquired Hawthorne Airport facility in central Los Angeles, which will serve as the operational hub for its planned LA air taxi network ahead of the 2028 Olympics. The company is also participating in the White House’s eVTOL Integration Pilot Program with applications submitted in five key states.
