Alaska Airlines Debuts Daily Nonstop Seattle-Rome Flights from April 2026
Alaska Airlines is broadening its global reach with the introduction of daily nonstop service between Seattle and Rome starting April 28, 2026. This new route signifies the airline’s inaugural transatlantic flight and will be operated on the airline’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft throughout the summer season.
Responding to overwhelming customer demand, Alaska has upgraded the flight frequency from an initially planned four times weekly to daily service. With fares starting at a competitive $599 roundtrip, the allure of La Dolce Vita is now more accessible to West Coast travelers. The route will establish a connection between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino International Airport.
“Serving Rome nonstop from Seattle is a dream come true,” said Alaska Airlines CEO Ben Minicucci, whose parents emigrated from Italy. “Rome has been at the top of the list ever since we announced our new global gateway out of Seattle. Our guests have been asking for an easy way to get to Italy for years, and we’re thrilled to provide it.”
Rome, the most popular European destination not currently served nonstop from Seattle, has consistently been among the most-requested destinations by Alaska Mileage Plan members. Passengers will enjoy the airline’s new premium international cabin featuring 34 enclosed Business Class suites with lie-flat seats, direct aisle access, and multi-course dining.
The route is Alaska’s third widebody international service from Seattle, following Tokyo Narita (launched May 2025) and Seoul Incheon (September 2025). The airline has plans to serve at least 12 intercontinental destinations from Seattle by 2030, including upcoming routes to London Heathrow and Reykjavik, Iceland, also launching in spring 2026.
