Daher Introduces TBM 980: A Game-Changer with Touchscreen Cockpit

On January 15, 2026, French aircraft manufacturer Daher unveiled the TBM 980 at its production facility in Tarbes, France. This marked the sixth aircraft in the TBM 900-series since Daher acquired the product line in 2014. The new single-engine turboprop is equipped with Garmin’s revolutionary third-generation G3000 PRIME avionics system, featuring a fully touchscreen-controlled flight deck.

The TBM 980 boasts three 14-inch edge-to-edge touchscreen displays, providing seamless control of flight functions and significantly improved screen and image quality. The app-based interface includes shortcuts, enabling pilots to access radios, transponder, flight plan, and procedures without navigating through multiple menus. This dramatically improves ergonomics and reduces pilot workload. The aircraft has received certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and validation from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), with deliveries set to begin this month.

Passenger comfort is also a priority in the TBM 980, with cabin enhancements such as provisions for installing a Starlink Mini terminal for satellite internet connectivity and 100-watt USB-C ports for charging mobile devices. The aircraft retains proven features from the best-selling TBM 960, including the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6E-66XT turboprop engine and five-blade Hartzell composite propeller. As of December 31, 2025, the aircraft is priced at $5.82 million, with 1,294 total TBM aircraft delivered worldwide.
