Daher Introduces the TBM 980: A Revolution in Touchscreen Avionics

French aircraft manufacturer Daher has officially unveiled the TBM 980, the latest addition to its successful TBM turboprop family, featuring Garmin’s cutting-edge G3000 PRIME avionics system. The aircraft was introduced on January 15, 2026, at Daher’s production facility in Tarbes, France, and has already received certification from both EASA and the FAA.

The TBM 980 represents the sixth aircraft launched by Daher in the TBM 900 series since the company acquired the product line in 2014. The standout feature is its revolutionary touchscreen-controlled flight deck, which includes three 14-inch edge-to-edge displays that significantly improve cockpit ergonomics and reduce pilot workload through customizable presets and a streamlined user interface.

Nicolas Chabbert, CEO of Daher Aircraft Division, stated that the aircraft “redefines the way that pilots—and their passengers—want to fly.”

The TBM 980 retains the proven Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6E-66XT turboprop engine and five-blade Hartzell composite propeller from the popular TBM 960, while adding modern cabin features including:

  • 100-watt USB-C power ports
  • Provisions for Starlink Mini satellite internet connectivity

Priced at $5.82 million, deliveries began in January 2026, with approximately 20 aircraft already ordered before the official launch. As of December 31, 2025, Daher has delivered a total of 1,294 TBM aircraft worldwide.
