MSC Cruises Announces Significant Enhancements to Ocean Cay Island in The Bahamas

MSC Cruises has unveiled a series of major upgrades to its private island destination, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve in The Bahamas. Announced on January 28, 2026, the upgrades are targeted for completion by late 2027. The expansion includes extending the island’s pier to accommodate two ships simultaneously, dramatically increasing visitor capacity.

The cruise line is set to add four new dining venues, bringing the total to seven restaurants. These will include a signature specialty restaurant, new buffets, and food market options.

Significant enhancements are also planned for the Seakers Cove Family Beach. These include a kid’s playground, splashpad, ropes course with water elements, and ping-pong and foosball facilities.

A new adults-only retreat, Paradise Sands, will offer an exclusive beach experience. Here, guests can relax by day and enjoy sunset cocktails in the evening.

In a bid to promote marine conservation, the MSC Foundation will introduce a “Shifting Perspective” experience. This will feature interactive activities focused on coral restoration and scientific research.

Ocean Cay, which opened in late 2019, was transformed from a former industrial site into a pristine tropical destination. It boasts over two miles of beachfront across eight beaches. In 2023, the island was designated a Hope Spot by Mission Blue for its importance in supporting biodiversity and marine life conservation.
