Daher Debuts TBM 980: A New Era of Advanced Touchscreen Cockpit Technology
On January 15, 2026, French aircraft manufacturer Daher made waves in the aviation industry with the official introduction of the TBM 980 at their production facility in Tarbes, France. This latest addition to the TBM family, the sixth aircraft in the TBM 900 series, is a game-changer, boasting Garmin’s state-of-the-art G3000 PRIME avionics system and revolutionary touchscreen controls.
The TBM 980 comes equipped with three 14-inch edge-to-edge touchscreen displays, a significant enhancement to cockpit ergonomics that effectively reduces pilot workload. The aircraft maintains the reliable Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6E-66XT turboprop engine and five-blade Hartzell composite propeller, hallmarks of the well-received TBM 960 model. With a price tag of $5.82 million, the aircraft has already secured certification from both EASA and the FAA, with deliveries set to commence in January 2026.
According to Nicolas Chabbert, CEO of Daher Aircraft Division, the TBM 980’s motto, ‘Fly Differently,’ is more than just a catchy tagline. “This aircraft redefines the way that pilots—and their passengers—want to fly,” he said. The aircraft also offers enhanced cabin amenities such as 100-watt USB-C power ports and provisions for Starlink Mini satellite internet connectivity, further elevating the flight experience.
