Daher Presents Groundbreaking TBM 980 Turboprop
On January 15, 2026, French aircraft manufacturer Daher unveiled the TBM 980 at a ceremony held at its production facility in Tarbes, France. The latest addition to the TBM family, the TBM 980, represents a significant technological leap. It features Garmin’s third-generation G3000 PRIME avionics system with three 14-inch edge-to-edge touchscreen displays, revolutionizing the pilot-avionics interface.
The TBM 980 has received certification from both the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Deliveries began in January 2026. The aircraft, priced at $5.82 million, is powered by a Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6E-66XT turboprop engine. This engine is paired with a five-blade Hartzell composite propeller and controlled by a Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) system.
“Our TBM 980’s motto, ‘Fly Differently,’ is more than just a slogan. This aircraft redefines the way that pilots and their passengers want to fly,” explained Nicolas Chabbert, CEO of Daher Aircraft. The aircraft maintains the TBM family’s renowned safety features, including Daher’s e-copilot technology, emergency descent mode, and the HomeSafe emergency autoland functionality.
Cabin enhancements include:
- 100-watt USB-C power ports
- Provisions for Starlink Mini satellite internet connectivity
According to Chabbert, around twenty TBM 980s had already been ordered before the official marketing launch. As of December 31, 2025, a total of 1,294 TBM aircraft had been delivered worldwide.
