Bombardier’s Flagship Global 8000 Business Jet Earns European Certification

Bombardier proudly announced on January 23, 2026, that its flagship Global 8000 business jet has received certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). This completes regulatory approvals across major markets. The ultra-long-range aircraft had previously received Transport Canada Type Certification on November 5, 2025, and U.S. Federal Aviation Administration certification on December 19, 2025.

The Global 8000, which entered service in December 2025, holds the distinction of being the world’s fastest civilian aircraft currently in operation. It boasts a top speed of Mach 0.95 and a range of 8,000 nautical miles. This makes it the fastest civilian aircraft since the Concorde retired in 2003. The business jet features a four-zone cabin layout and delivers the lowest cabin altitude in business aviation production at just 2,691 feet while cruising at 41,000 feet. This design helps passengers arrive refreshed by minimizing physiological stress.

“Attaining EASA certification illustrates the hard work and dedication of Bombardier’s highly skilled employees and suppliers in collaboration with Transport Canada and EASA teams,” said Stephen McCullough, Executive Vice President of Engineering, Product Development and Bombardier Defense. The aircraft’s advanced wing design featuring unique leading-edge slats enables it to access up to 30 percent more airports than its closest rivals. It offers takeoff and landing performance comparable to lighter jets, despite its ultra-long-range capabilities.
