Alaska Airlines Breaks New Ground with Inaugural Europe Flights to Rome in 2026

Alaska Airlines is set to make aviation history with the launch of its first-ever transatlantic service. The Seattle-based carrier has announced that tickets are now on sale for nonstop flights between Seattle and Rome, starting from April 28, 2026. This significant milestone comes as Alaska Airlines broadens its global reach following its merger with Hawaiian Airlines.

Due to overwhelming demand, Alaska Airlines has ramped up its service from the initially planned four flights per week to daily operations throughout the summer season. With roundtrip fares starting as low as $599, this service presents an enticing option for West Coast travelers eager to explore Italy and Europe. The flights will be operated on Alaska’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, which boasts 34 business class suites and 266 economy seats, offering a reimagined international travel experience.

Ben Minicucci, the CEO of Alaska Airlines and an Italian American, described the opportunity to serve Rome as “a dream come true.” This new route transforms Seattle into a major global gateway, with Rome being the most popular European destination not previously served nonstop from the Pacific Northwest. Furthermore, Alaska Airlines has plans to extend its European service to London Heathrow and Reykjavik, Iceland later in 2026, with the London service expected to operate year-round.
