Historic Expansion of Iconic Royal Garden Hotel Brand After 44 Years

Hong Kong’s iconic Royal Garden hotel brand is embarking on a historic expansion. The Royal Garden Kowloon East in Tseung Kwan O is set to open its doors in January 2026. This marks the brand’s first expansion in 44 years. The 366-room urban resort is a restyled transformation of the former Crowne Plaza Kowloon East. It was developed by Sun Hung Kai Properties, the original creators of The Royal Garden in Tsim Sha Tsui back in 1981.

The property positions itself as an “oasis of calm”. It features seven exclusive villas with private gardens tailored for families, couples, and nature enthusiasts. The villas are pet-friendly, catering to staycations that include four-legged companions. The hotel’s design is inspired by a Balinese aesthetic, featuring warm oak finishes and soothing colors. The eco-conscious design by LAAB Architects is aligned with the preferences of Millennials, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha.

The Royal Garden Kowloon East will be unveiled in three phases over 2026. The guest rooms and suites will be launching in January, followed by the exclusive villas and family-focused amenities opening by March. The final phase will conclude in July. The hotel’s contemporary MICE and wedding venues include the Diamond Room 8. This venue can seat up to 180 guests in a minimal tropical atmosphere, enhanced by expansive French windows.
