Van’s Aircraft Commences Delivery of First RV-15 Wing Kits

Marking a significant milestone in its recovery from bankruptcy, Van’s Aircraft has begun delivering the first wing kits for its revolutionary RV-15 high-wing backcountry aircraft. This marks the onset of production for the company’s newest design.

On December 23rd, 2025, two RV-15 wing kits were dispatched from the Oregon factory. The first kit was delivered to Kevin Eldredge, who placed his order at EAA AirVenture 2025, and the second to builder Spanky Melton. This delivery signifies a major leap forward for Van’s Aircraft, which had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in December 2023, but has since emerged stronger with streamlined operations.

The RV-15 is a first-of-its-kind high-wing design from Van’s, after over 50 years of producing low-wing aircraft. The wing kits feature pre-punched aluminum components assembled with blind rivets, which significantly reduce build time compared to previous Van’s models. The introductory price for the wing kit is set at $19,650.

According to Van’s Aircraft, deliveries of RV-15 wing kits will continue with increased production planned for January 2026. Final flight tests for the horizontal tail are ongoing, with tail kit sales planned for late January and deliveries expected to commence around the end of March. Customers who have ordered wing kits will receive priority when tail kits go on sale.

The RV-15 embodies Van’s “Total Performance” philosophy in the utility category, combining very low stall speeds ideal for backcountry operations with unexpectedly high cruise speeds of up to 140 knots. Its patented articulated landing gear is designed for rough strips while providing benign taildragger handling characteristics.
