Bombardier’s Global 8000: The Fastest Business Jet Receives FAA Certification
Bombardier’s Global 8000 business jet, touted as “the world’s fastest business aircraft” since the Concorde, has achieved a significant milestone with its certification from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The ultra-long-range aircraft, which began service in Canada earlier this month, claims a top speed of Mach 0.95—equivalent to approximately 729 miles per hour. It can fly an impressive 8,000 nautical miles without the need for refueling. The FAA certification, announced on December 19, 2025, comes on the heels of Transport Canada’s approval granted on November 5.
The Global 8000 stands out with the lowest cabin altitude in business aviation production at 2,691 feet while cruising at 41,000 feet. This feature significantly reduces physiological stress on passengers during long-haul flights. The aircraft’s four-zone cabin can comfortably accommodate up to 19 passengers in luxury configurations.
“Attaining the Global 8000 certification from the FAA sets new performance standards in the industry and marks one of the final chapters in our very successful development program,” said Stephen McCullough, Senior Vice President of Engineering at Bombardier.
The first Global 8000 was delivered on December 8 to Canadian entrepreneur Patrick Dovigi. The European EASA certification is still pending.
