Inside Travel Achieves Unprecedented 22% Growth in Japan Tourism
Inside Travel Group has announced a record-breaking growth for 2025, marking its 25th anniversary with a 22 percent year-on-year increase and 16,000 travelers across its InsideJapan and InsideAsia brands. The announcement, made on December 18, 2025, underscores the company’s innovative approach to combating overtourism while achieving unprecedented business success.
In 2025, InsideJapan launched its groundbreaking ‘under-tourism’ strategy, spotlighting five lesser-known regions: Toyama, Nagoya, Nagasaki, Aomori, and Yamaguchi. This strategy proved remarkably successful, with room nights in Toyama surging by 870 percent to 250 nights, and overall under-tourism bookings doubling to 1,000 nights. The company sent travelers to over 200 different destinations in Japan, contributing significantly to the revitalization of local economies and preservation of culture.
“Our aim is to help disperse travel across Japan to places and communities that have the capacity and desire more visitors, while ultimately improving the traveler experience,” said Robert Moran, Travel Head of Sustainability.
Since becoming B Corp certified in 2023, Inside Travel has delivered over $670,000 in renewable energy and forest management projects across Asia and donated more than $160,000 to charity partners. Looking ahead to 2026, the company plans to double under-tourism efforts again and has unveiled new small group tours, including special kids’ half-price offers for Japan and South Korea summer tours.
