Amazon Introduces ‘Amazon Now’ for Ultra-Fast 30-Minute Deliveries
Amazon has recently launched ‘Amazon Now,’ an innovative ultra-fast delivery service. This service guarantees the delivery of groceries and household essentials in a remarkable 30 minutes or less. Currently, the pilot program is being trialed in select areas of Seattle and Philadelphia, marking a significant step forward in the e-commerce speed wars.
The service boasts a wide range of items, including:
- Milk, eggs, and fresh produce
- Cosmetics
- Pet food
- Diapers
- Electronics
- Over-the-counter medications
Amazon Prime members can avail of this service for a mere $3.99 per order. Non-Prime customers, on the other hand, will be charged $13.99. However, orders under $15 will incur an additional $1.99 small basket fee.
Amazon is achieving these ultra-fast delivery times by utilizing specialized, smaller fulfillment facilities. These are strategically positioned close to customers’ homes and workplaces. This move puts direct competitive pressure on services like Instacart and Uber Eats, as Amazon expands beyond its traditional next-day and same-day delivery offerings into the instant gratification market.
Customers in eligible areas can locate this service under the ’30-Minute Delivery’ option in the Amazon app navigation bar.
