Thanksgiving Sunday 2024: TSA Forecasts Over 3 Million Travelers, a Potential Record-Breaker
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) forecasts a staggering number of over 3 million travelers on Sunday, November 30, 2024. This could potentially make it one of the top 10 busiest travel days in TSA history. This prediction follows the previous year’s record on Thanksgiving Sunday, which saw 3.08 million passengers on December 1, 2023.
This Thanksgiving is significant as it marks the inauguration of the new REAL ID rules. This means that many travelers will be flying for the first time since the implementation of this regulation. Remarkably, the TSA’s top 9 busiest days have all screened 3 million or more passengers, with 8 of those days occurring in 2024 alone.
Anticipating the surge, airlines are preparing with enticing Travel Tuesday deals. Notable offers include Qatar Airways’ 25-30% discounts and Scandinavian Airlines’ $395 flights to Europe. Travel booking platforms predict that Travel Tuesday will offer twice as many deals as Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined.
