Successful Completion of $2.2M Runway Rehabilitation at Siletz Bay State Airport, Oregon

The Oregon Department of Aviation (ODAV) has triumphantly concluded a comprehensive $2.2 million runway and electrical rehabilitation project at Siletz Bay State Airport (S45) in Gleneden. The project primarily involved resurfacing the aging north two-thirds of the runway and repairing low pavement sections on the south end of the facility.

The rehabilitation work also entailed replacing the nearly 40-year-old airfield electrical system, thereby modernizing critical infrastructure for safe airport operations. The contractor initiated the electrical improvements in fall 2024, with the remaining pavement and electrical work completed during a summer 2025 closure that spanned approximately 60 days.

Strategically located on the picturesque Oregon coast between Newport and Lincoln City, Siletz Bay State Airport serves as a pivotal general aviation facility for the region. The successful completion of this significant infrastructure investment ensures the airport’s ability to operate safely and efficiently for the foreseeable future, thereby supporting both local aviation needs and coastal tourism access.
