Microsoft and NVIDIA Strengthen AI Collaboration with Blackwell Integration

Microsoft and NVIDIA have unveiled significant new integrations aimed at boosting enterprise AI development. This move makes Microsoft the pioneer cloud provider to deploy NVIDIA’s advanced GB300 NVL72 systems on a large scale. The collaboration introduces the new NDv6 GB300 VM series on Azure, which boasts over 4,600 NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra GPUs connected via Quantum-X800 InfiniBand networking.

The partnership is designed to meet the enormous computing demands of contemporary AI. Each GB300 NVL72 rack delivers over 130 TB/s of bandwidth and up to 136 kW of compute power within a single cabinet. Microsoft has also announced the general availability of Azure NC H100 v5 virtual machines, which support NVIDIA’s Multi-Instance GPU technology for flexible AI workload scaling.

The extended collaboration also penetrates into the healthcare and life sciences sectors. It combines Microsoft Azure with NVIDIA DGX Cloud and Clara microservices to expedite drug discovery and medical imaging. Despite facing challenges such as reported overheating issues with Blackwell processors and a Chinese anti-monopoly investigation, NVIDIA continues to dominate the AI infrastructure market with partnerships across major cloud providers.
